Leadership Brief: Does Your Leadership Inspire Optimism?
Posted on 26. Jun, 2011 by Shawn Murphy in 2 Leadership Brief
We need more optimism in our workplaces. Blessing White research shows that 31% of the world’s employees feel engaged. This is considered “roughly stable” by their assessment.
I believe we can do better. I believe we need to do better. It’s up to each of us to help create a workplace that inspires, engages. We need employees to believe their work matters, has value, has meaning.
Does your leadership inspire optimism within your team?
Ask your peers, direct reports, your manager these questions. They’ll give you a sense of the mood your leadership creates.
- Do you look beyond mistakes?
- Are you cynical in your perspectives?
- Do you show genuine interest in your employees’ lives?
- How often do you surface and promote employee ideas?
- How do you defend your team? Do they know?
