Hi Derrick, so, you like to play DJ, eh? We’ll do another edition of the Top 10 Change songs next year. We’ll have to see how Sheryl Crow does. She has another song that was considered this year, “Out of Our Heads.” Check it out.

“A Change Would Do You Good” by Sheryl Crow. Just the intro and the chorus since the verses are not relevant.

Edit those together and you have a great intro to a change related seminar. It’s upbeat, positive and has lots of energy. Also, it’s hard not to smile or move to the beat. I’ve used it as an intro and it really is a good “kick start”

Makes change into a positive that you want to be a part of.

Robyn, thank you for sharing your story. There is no limit to what we can accomplish once we work through those things holding us back, even mental models that no longer serve us. You created a new mental model for yourself by completing your doctorate program. It feels deeply gratifying, I’m sure, to stand where you are and look back at what you accomplished. It is a great journey through change.

Hi Shawn, Came to visit your blog for the first time and was inspired to share that this song moved me forward as I stepped out to take a big risk in my life journey. A friend and colleague challenged me to go back to university to earn my doctorate. I still cannot believe the response that flowed instantaneously from my lips: I can’t possibly do that because I’m not smart enough, I’m too old, and I’ll never pass the entrance exams since I’ve been out of school too long. Later I disproved these myths I held about myself unknowingly.

I kept mulling it over. Once I made the decision, this is the song that inspired me, a woman in her late 50′s, to go back to university after earning a Master’s 30+ years earlier.

The song is “I Have a Dream,” first made famous by ABBA. It led the way to significant change.

Troy, I had no idea it was the first song to go into heavy rotation on Mtv. I learned something new. I remember blasting the song when it came on MTV or the radio. Definitely a song worthy of consideration given it’s social message. Social messaging is one of the criteria for identifying the Top 10 songs.
